HSSV Companion Animal Loss Support Group
Anyone who has experienced a loss or anticipates such a loss is invited to attend the Humane Society Silicon Valley Companion Animal Loss Support Group. The group helps grieving pet owners heal the pain by working through their feelings of loss, anger and depression. The meetings are held at the shelter on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30-7:30 PM. You may attend an unlimited number of meetings and are encouraged to return to help others work through their grief even after your own needs are met. This service is provided at no fee for our community. Donations are welcomed to help provide necessary services for our animal guests here at the shelter. For more information contact Beth Ward at (408) 262-2133 x178 or beth.ward@hssv.org.

Levels-Based Dog Training
Sign up for our new and improved Levels-Based Dog Training class! Move through the levels at your dog’s speed and at your schedule’s convenience! We’ll focus on positive reinforcement-based training and setting your dog up for success, allowing for a more harmonious relationship with your pooch! Start with Introduction to Training and learn about how we’ll train, what to expect, and how best to allow your dog to learn. After that, you’ll progress to Level One, where you’ll practice basic behaviors like “sit” and “come” while laying the foundation for having a polite walking partner. Once you and your pooch have mastered those behaviors, you’ll move on to Level Two to practice “down,” “stay,” and “leave it.” This series is appropriate for dogs of all ages and breeds, but is not appropriate for dogs with reactive behavior. To register and more details, visit pupplaza.org/events.
