Being with others who understand really does help.” Our trained volunteer pet-loss specialists are available to support you when you are grieving the loss of your beloved companion animal or are anticipating a loss. Pet Loss Support Group
When your companion animal dies, it’s natural to feel grief and sadness, even depression. Our free Pet Loss Support Group is designed to help anyone grieving the death, loss, or terminal illness of a beloved companion animal (need not be a Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA animal.) Led by a professional counselor, our group meets the second Thursday of each month. The group usually ranges in size from 6 to 12 participants. Some people come once or twice, others four or five times. The group meets each month through Zoom and there is no need to sign up or RSVP. For more information about the group, please call Brian Probst at 650-340-7022, ext. 328 or email BProbst@PHS-SPCA.org.

Pup N Pony Meet and Greet
Does your pup need a one-on-one tutorial on trail etiquette around horses? Mosey on down to our monthly Pup and Pony Meet and Greet held on the first Saturday of each month (weather permitting*). If you are not sure how your dog is around horses, PLEASE come to this clinic and continue with other obedience training to make sure your dog will return to you when called, no matter what. Look for the Volunteer Mounted Patrol person with his or her horse at Dunn Trail parking lot area at 11500 Skyline Blvd. When you turn into the parking lot, the old, ranch-style Parks building will be to your left. The horse and rider should be at the far right end of the parking lot as you face the hills. Introduce yourself to the horse trainer BEFORE taking your dog out of the car. For further information call Oakland Dog Owners Group at 465-0928, ext 2.
