Join the Golden Gate Basset Rescue for their annual fundraiser and basset hound promotion event, as part of the City of Novato’s Annual Fourth of July Parade! Participants are encouraged to collect pledges and the entry fee goes to benefit basset rescue. It is a good way to promote basset hounds and promote rescue because it gets dogs and their happy and proud owners out in front of the public. “Anyone with a friendly, social basset can enter; if the basset is a rescued dog, so much the better. If someone wants to participate, but he or she doesn’t have a dog, or the dog does not like crowds and commotion or is too young or too old to “waddle”, he or she can just come without a dog and volunteer to walk a dog for someone else. Many of us have more than one dog and can use an extra hand. There are almost always more than 50 bassets in the parade. We have a “bring-your-own-lunch” picnic afterward in a nearby park. The club provides sodas and prepares charcoal for anyone who wants to barbecue something. There will also be games and prizes.” For more information, see the GGBR website or call the City of Novato at 415 898-6425
